Cameron is currently a medical student at the University of Washington School of Medicine working towards a surgical specialty. Cameron comes from a long line of nutritionists and has used that background as a foundation for his medical and undergraduate studies.
A 2004 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Washington State University, Cameron received two baccalaureate degrees in Biology and Physiological Nutrition. At Washington State University, Cameron was the top-graduating senior and received several awards from the institution for his academic, athletic, and community involvement
Athletically, Cameron's background is diverse and accomplished. Ranging from an all-state place kicker in high school football to a Pacific-10 Conference golfer in college, Cameron's distinct athletic path eventually found him thriving in the world of triathlon, and there he has remained for the past six years.
Cameron brings an impressive list of triathlon accomplishments and an unparalleled reputation in the triathlon community. Cameron is a USA Triathlon PNW Athlete of the Year, USA Triathlon PNW Collegiate Champion, and a USA Triathlon Olympic Development West Coast Champion.
Through his time in the sport, Cameron has been exposed to a variety of world class coaching methods and development programs. He began to thrive in the sport while participating in the US Olympic Development Program. Most recently, Cameron spent several months in Australia training at their Olympic Training Center, the Victorian Institute of Sport in Melbourne.
As a medical student, Cameron not only has a solid foundation in the sciences to work from, but he is also no stranger to the constraints that time can have on a training program. Cameron's credo for training and coaching follows the idea that no matter how hectic life is, a training plan designed around the individual athlete paired with good communication between coach and athlete is unsurpassed in efficacy, period.
"No matter how limited on time I am during any given week, I always find a way to have a productive and satisfying week of workouts. Triathlon is that one thing I do for myself, as it keeps my mind fresh and body healthy. Triathlon's benefits no doubt carry over to the rest of my life, and in the long run it beats sitting on the couch after a long day at the clinic or in class."
Presently, Cameron is making the transition from ITU-style racing to the world of long-course, and learning to compare and contrast the different training strategies at different distances. Cameron is also a well-read author of medically and scientifically-based training articles, all the while utilizing every pearl of medical knowledge he can to enhance his training and coaching.
