Talks between the City of Boulder and the World Triathlon Corporation (or WTC, also known as Ironman) to bring a full-ironman distance race to Boulder, CO have been ongoing for several months. According to a local news source that specializes in reporting on all things active in Boulder, the Daily Camera, the Boulder Ironman triathlon moves forward! Our own local sources tell us that it’s all but a done deal. We at Trismarter could not be more excited about this! Boulder has of course had the Boulder 70.3 for a number of years (before it was called the Boulder 70.3, it was the 5430 Long Course Triathlon), which has been a part of the Boulder Triathlon Series. Adding to this series a full iron-distance race would make an already incredible training and racing ground for triathlon, second to none as far as we’re concerned. No other place on this awesome planet would have such a huge triathlon presence! Can you tell we’re excited?
If you think you might be interested in this race for your 2014 season, stay tuned, or better yet, let us know. I have a feeling we’ll be hosting a camp or two specifically for this race! Our coaching and nutrition expertise applied to a race which is in our backyard will be certain to take things to a whole new level.
Trismarter has put together a training program specifically for Ironman Boulder. Details can be found on our Ironman Boulder Training Program page!
