Check out this article from the New York Times today about the deals on gym memberships . For triathletes, it’s a great time to consider upgrading to a better gym for strength training, yoga or a better indoor pool. For the non-triathlete, maybe a gym membership will provide much-needed motivation to start training for your first triathlon.
I was working out last week at a high-end gym in the SoHo section of NYC and was surprised to find out that there were no training programs available for triathlon-no specialized spinning classes or strength training programs geared for people who want to become triathletes. Maybe even more surprising, the club didn’t have any sports nutritionists or dietitians available to members. The lesson here is to inquire about the range of programs and resources available when shopping for a new gym membership and investigate how “tri-friendly” the club is.
