The last 5 pounds…

How many of you are putting in your time at the pool, on the bike, and out on the run yet struggle to lose the last five pounds of unwanted body weight? My guess is that a fair number of competitive age-group triathletes struggle with this problem on a daily basis. In fact, I was recently contacted by an Olympic-caliber athlete who will be competing in Beijing with the exact same dilemma.

Imagine the improvement in cycling and running speed and endurance if that “last 5 pounds” wasn’t weighing you down mile after mile. Surely you have tried cutting back on calories only to be “out of gas” in training and maybe you’ve even tried increasing the total training volume in hopes of tipping the energy balance equation in favor of a loss. At Trismarter.com, we have been working hard on this very issue with a number of clients and have a system and a program in place to target this exact problem. I am curious to know, however, what our readers have tried, either successfully or unsuccessfully to lose that “last 5 pounds”…
